Meridian's U.S. Elevation Data is a conversion of the U.S. National Elevation Dataset (NED) for the lower 48 states and Hawaii. The data has been converted to the more commonly used USGS DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data format, which is more easily accessible in most software. While the NED data has been an improvement in accuracy and data consistency over the previous SDTS data the USGS used, it has not been easy for most GIS users to implement or use.

Meridian GeoSystems is now providing this data inexpensively and conveniently to users who need (or want) to use a lot of elevation data, and we've tiled it in one of two ways:

1. The traditional geographies of the USGS 7.5' (1:24,000) Quadrangles. The product ships on 2 DVDs. In addition, this version also ships with the 7.5' quadrangle boundaries as a reference.

2. 1 degree x 1 degree tiles. The product ships on 2 DVDs.
